Inconsiderate

I remember a father’s tale
All his efforts did fail
To resolve a small dispute
Wishes of his son did daughter refute.
There was a small cake
Daughter wanted bigger portion
The son said that he would take
Father wondered why
Can’t on earth and under the sky
Both be reasonable
And keep their temper stable
Why don’t they just accept?
That equality is the best.
Simple plan he thought
Cake cutting knife, he brought.

Asked both to have each one choice
Both must be quiet and soften the voice.
One will cut the cake
Other will choose the piece
Peace, thus father did make.

Desire to fight for selfishness sake
Among grown-ups grows while awake.
Why can humans show just consideration?
For fellow human beings and cultivate lasting relations?
