Praises were showered
Whenever he was there
Out of sight no one would care
Sycophants were many
Well-wishers only a few
How to advise him
No one had a clue
Those who rose fast
Recently or in a distant past
Had quickly fallen down
Yet none dare warn him in whole of town
Sycophancy since ages always has its toll
Often it makes its victims’ heads roll
